OS Update 4.7.1.53 Officially Released for the BlackBerry Tour

Verizon Wireless has officially released OS update 4.7.1.53 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630. This comes just a day after this version was leaked on the Internet. OS 4.7.1.53 is the first official Tour upgrade from Verizon. The big question everybody had is whether this update will fix the trackball issues. Well early reports are in and it seems that users still experience trackball problems even after the upgrade. It was a little hard to believe this really was a software problem but still I held out hope that this would be the fix. All is not lost as this update gives us some nice improvements and fixes.

To download OS update 4.7.1.53 simply connect your device to your computer and load up Desktop Manager.

OS 4.7.1.53 Highlights:

• Improved MMS notifications
• Improved Visual Voice Mail app
• Improved sound quality for Bluetooth headsets and voice calls
• Fixed geo-tagging error in the camera application
• Fixed an error with DRM music skipping
• Improved video player
• Added BlackBerry Messenger update notifications — check for new BBM updates automatically or manually.

OS Update 5.0.0.216 Leaked for the BlackBerry Storm 9500

Is it just me or does it seem like we get most of the OS leaks on the weekend? Regardless BlackBerry Storm 9500 owners will happy to know OS 5.0.0.216 is the latest leak. Back when OS update 5.0.0.230 leaked for the 9530 a lot of 9500 users felt left out. Even though this is not version .230 it is almost as good and has all the great OS 5.0 features. Now that Facebook, Myspace and many of our favorite IM apps were upgraded to work with 5.0, it is a great time to give this OS a try.

More beta OS's are still popping up all over the interweb. Today we have some much needed Storm updates for both 9500 and 9530 models. For the BlackBerry Storm 9530 we have OS 4.7.0.103, and for the Storm 9500 OS 4.7.0.106! We are getting closer and closer to the next official update. Verizon users need one bad! OS 4.7.0.75, which was the last official update released by Verizon is starting to get really slow and buggy. Anyway, enjoy these if you dare.
